Luba Charlton is one of Australia’s most experienced and knowledgable HR practitioners. In her characteristic forthright style, Luba has left no stone unturned in developing her experience and ability in managing some of the nation’s most robust HR systems. This is perhaps the key reason why the HR business she founded continues to excel in one of the toughest recruitment environments for the last 30-40 years.
When Luba began her HR career more than 20 years ago, she witnessed the legacy and the compounding problems that poor recruitment creates in all areas of business. This experience was re-lived at other agencies where she learned that no matter how passionate or committed she was in delivering an excellent service, the right team was needed to back her up.
In 1993, Luba founded Advance Recruitments. She made it her career mission to deliver excellence in quality and service by assembling the right team of people for any given work assignment, and began building the systems necessary to achieve that. The business now turns over more than $25m, and operates in Sydney and Melbourne.
Three years ago, Luba also founded Charlton Management Consulting, a consulting firm that specialises in Performance Improvement through Policies, Procedures, and People.
She is the current President of Parramatta Rotary and is a Director of Fund Raising with the Salvation Army.
Luba derives her inspiration from fellow Australian business leaders. She particularly admires Gerry Harvey and Dick Smith because they have built empires based on a dream and received little formal education. She relates to the hard work, commitment and passion they show for their businesses.
